Mandatory Liability Insurance (MLI) SMS Terms & Privacy Policy
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) is committed to protecting your privacy. This page explains the terms governing the Mandatory Liability Insurance (MLI) SMS messaging service, how information is used, and how you may manage your SMS communication preferences.
SMS Program Description
The ALEA Mandatory Liability Insurance (MLI) Program offers an optional SMS service that allows callers using the MLI Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system to receive requested information by text message.
Messages are informational in nature and may include:
- Mandatory Liability Insurance (MLI) case information
- Links to ALEA MLI online resources
- Customer service contact information
- Other information specifically requested during an MLI IVR interaction
ALEA does not use this SMS service for advertising, marketing, or promotional purposes.
How Consent Is Obtained
SMS messages are sent only after a caller voluntarily requests to receive a text message while interacting with the ALEA Mandatory Liability Insurance (MLI) Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system.
The SMS message is delivered only to the telephone number associated with the incoming call.
By requesting an SMS message during the IVR interaction, you consent to receive the requested text message from ALEA.
Consent is voluntary and is not a condition of receiving MLI services.
Information We Use
To provide the SMS service, ALEA may use:
- The telephone number associated with your incoming call (Caller ID/ANI)
- Information necessary to process your MLI request
- Records of SMS delivery
- SMS communication preferences, including opt-out requests
This information is used solely to provide the requested SMS service and administer the MLI program.
Message Frequency
Message frequency varies depending on your interaction with the MLI IVR system. SMS messages are sent only when requested during an IVR session.
Message and Data Rates
Message and data rates may apply depending on your wireless carrier and mobile service plan.
Opting Out
You may opt out of future SMS communications at any time by replying STOP to any text message received from ALEA.
After you reply STOP, you will receive one confirmation message. No additional SMS messages will be sent unless you initiate another request through the ALEA MLI IVR system and provide consent to receive a text message.
